Mark 16:15 - He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

a Day in the life of a fsm missionary

“I have led mission trips to many different countries with different organizations and FSM is at the top of my list. We always feel welcomed and safe with the staff and the community. They do a good job at building deep relationships, especially with returning teams. My first trip was in 2010, it was cool to return 13 years later and see some of the same kids (now adults) who I had built relationships with early on. It’s a great organization for introducing missions to students as well as for those that are seasoned in serving!”

Typically, teams arrive on the weekend and settle into their activities for the week on Monday. If the teams travel to the mission on Saturday, they are able to take part in a church service with the community on Sunday. In Costa Rica, mission teams and volunteers are able to choose from a variety of daytime projects to work on. Teams most commonly choose to do vacation bible school, youth activities, home visits in the community in groups of 2-3 along with a bilingual staff member or translator, or onsite mission construction projects. Home visits are especially rewarding because they allow participants to get to know a community member well. They typically last for 2-4 hours, and often involve the homeowner teaching the “gringos” how to make tortillas.

All of our teams are welcome to participate in our weekly ministry activities (see schedule here). Our most popular ministry events with teams have been things like cooking out with the men’s group, hosting a dinner for the women’s group after taking part in their ministry time for the evening or doing a special youth worship and message. These are all evening ministry events.

Are you ready to have your life changed by a mission trip?

The week at Faithful Servant Missions was one of the most meaningful events of my life, if not the most. I found myself thinking and saying repeatedly that what you accomplished in a short time in that small place on our beautiful earth was unbelievable.
