...and there was light.

Genesis 1:3 says, “And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.”
These were the first words of God recorded in the Bible. This is not by chance–for anything to work, whatever it may be, there must first be light.
At the exact moment an egg is fertilized, there is a burst of microscopic light that scientists call a "zinc spark;" the beginning of something new. When does a new day begin? When the sun–the light–rises. It is in these moments that we also realize we have a new opportunity: first, to give thanks for receiving a new mercy from God, and second, to speak honestly and sincerely with God our creator.
God’s first words being about light show us the supreme and creative power of Scripture, that we are capable of dispelling chaos and darkness simply by speaking!
Later in the Bible, it says that death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). This echoes the first teaching God gave us in Genesis 1:3, without a long sermon: And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. This word of light brought forth life.
There are two things I want to emphasize from this verse:
1. When we need clarity in our lives, whatever it may be, let us seek God's light, because that is the first step in creation so that everything else is ordered. In the same way, without God's light in our lives, we are simply disordered and empty. But if we seek God's light in prayer and immerse ourselves in His word, this brings clarity, order, and the beginning of something new.
2. Let us be light. We are here not only to dazzle one another; we are here to teach others about God's light. This week, let us be light for all those little souls who want to know the true light that dispels darkness, transforms confusion into clarity, and brings new life.

Fueron las primeras palabras de Dios registradas en la Biblia. Esto no es por casualidad: para que algo funcione, sea lo que sea, primero debe haber luz. En el momento exacto en que un espermatozoide entra en un óvulo, ocurre una explosión de luz microscópica que la ciencia llama «chispa de zinc», que es el inicio de algo nuevo.
El día comienza cuando sale la luz del sol. Es ahí donde nos damos cuenta de que tenemos una nueva oportunidad: primero, para agradecer por recibir una nueva misericordia de parte de Dios, y también para hablar de forma honesta y sincera con Dios nuestro creador.
El poder supremo y creativo de la palabra de Dios es capaz de disipar el caos y la oscuridad con solo el hecho de hablar.
La misma palabra dice que la muerte y la vida están en el poder de la lengua (Proverbios 18:21). Esta fue la primera enseñanza que nos dio Dios en Génesis 1:3, sin un largo sermón; él dijo: Sea la luz; y fue la luz.
Hay dos cosas que quiero recalcar de este versículo:
1. Cuando necesitemos aclarar algo en nuestras vidas, sea lo que sea, busquemos la luz de parte de Dios, porque ese es el primer paso en la creación para que todo después esté ordenado. De esa misma forma, sin la luz de Dios en nuestras vidas, simplemente estamos desordenados y vacíos. Pero si buscamos la luz de Dios en oración y nos sumergimos en su palabra, esto trae claridad, orden y el inicio de algo nuevo.
2. Seamos luz. Estamos aquí no solo para encandilarnos entre nosotros; estamos aquí para enseñarle a otros sobre la luz de Dios. Esta semana vamos a ser luz para todas aquellas pequeñas almas que quieren conocer la verdadera luz que transforma la oscuridad en claridad.

Padre celestial, te doy gracias porque tu palabra tiene el poder de transformar cualquier situación de caos o tristeza en mi vida. Te pido que hoy envíes tu luz a las áreas más oscuras de mi mente y mi corazón. Ayúdame a vivir como un hijo de luz y a reflejar tu amor y verdad a quienes me rodean. Amén
